Burger King

I went out to Burger King tonight to pick up dinner for me and Widget.  Dingy doesn't like Burger King, but she had gone out today and eaten a big snack before coming home.  When I pulled up to the order menu, I saw this picture for their new pulled pork sandwich.  Dingy likes this kind of sandwich, so I thought I would take one home for her in case she got hungry later.

When we got it home, I pulled it out of the package and you couldn't even see the meat.  Just the bun.  The she opened the bun.  This is what the sandwich looked like.

Yesterday's Sonogram

The pictures from yesterday's sonogram aren't as nice.  They're a little freaky even.  You're looking down on his face.  At his eyeballs.  It looks a little like the scary Chucky doll from the Chucky movies!!

Sonogram Pictures

I finally figured out the scanner.  OK.  I really didn't.  I cheated.  I used Rod's scanner and computer and then emailed them to me.  But, it worked so that's all that matters, right?  :)

This one is from 2 weeks ago.  You're looking at his profile....he's face up.  Does anyone else see that it looks like he is coming WITH a pacifier??
I circled it here in case you couldn't see what I meant.  I did find out at yesterday's sonogram that it is part of his umbilical cord.
He has his mouth open in this picture.  I do not remember ever seeing the other babies with their mouths open.  During the sonogram that is.  After they're here, they don't CLOSE them!!!

Colorado Theater Shooting

OK.  I know the theater shooting in Colorado was a very serious and tragic incident.  And I also know it isn't nice to make fun of people and no one really knows what they would do in a situation like that.  But this story has to be shared.  And it actually fits in with my bear story and Rod from yesterday.

Here's the article that I copy and pasted from Yahoo News:

"A young couple who'd recently moved from New Mexico and were attending the Aurora, Colo., midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" with their children said they had planned to sit in the front row by the exit in which a gunman entered and allegedly killed at least 12 people.

Jamie Rohrs, 25, said that before the movie started, he and his fiancee, Patricia Legarreta, also 25, had opted for seats in the second-floor balcony. Rohrs held their 4-month-old son, Ethan, while Legarreta sat next to her 4-year-old daughter, Azeria, who was asleep with her head in her mother's lap.
"Where the gunman came in, we were going to sit right there," Rohrs told ABC News today. "God was definitely with us and watching over us. I just thank God we sat where we did and showed up late."
Fifteen minutes into the movie, Legarreta said, someone walked into the theater from the exit and threw something. Police now allege that James Holmes, 24, burst into the movie house and started shooting patrons, killing at least 12 and injuring at least 50.

Legarreta said that after seeing smoke and then hearing gunshots, she heard Rohrs yell for her to get on the ground.
"I threw my daughter on the floor," she said. "I just remember thinking my fiance has my son."
Legarreta said she was wounded in her leg as she stood to move between her daughter and the gun shots.
"It was headed toward my daughter," she said through tears today. "Had I not moved her -- I just moved her in front of me. ... I don't know what would happened to her."
Legarreta said she had shrapnel in her leg from the upper thigh to the ankle. While she was on the floor, she said, she could see her 4-month-old baby on the ground near the stairs. Legarreta said she did not know the whereabouts of Rohrs.
"At that point, I reached out and I grabbed him and pulled him in to me," she said. "I didn't even check my leg until we were out in the parking lot."
Rohrs, who had Ethan, said he jumped over the seat with the baby in his arms. He said he considered lying on the ground and playing dead but feared for his son's life.
"I'm trying to keep him low. ... And he's crying," Rohrs said. "People are running all over. I'm tripping and falling. I don't know if I laid him down or sat him down. I'm wondering maybe there's more of them. [I'm thinking] 'He's crying and they're going to come get me.' I look up to see if I can run. I'm ducking, dodging, turning left, turning right. ... Every time you hear a gun shot, it's like 'Oh, I'm dead.'"
"I'm just disoriented after I put him down," Rohrs said. "I'm just waiting for me to hit the ground and fall down dead. You could see the gunfire and people are dropping."
He said he wondered where Ethan was but realized he could not go back to get him. Rohrs finally jumped over the balcony and ended up outside.
"It just felt like the worst thing ever because my son's still in there," he told ABC News. "My girlfriend is still in there. I'm out here. Who leaves their child there?"
He said Legarreta called him from another phone and he drove back to the theater. They were eventually taken to the hospital and released.

In an interview with ABC News, Legaretta said she just ran as fast as she could with the baby and her daughter when the gunshots stopped.
"[I just said] 'I'm not going to die in here. Me and my kids are not going to die in this building,'" she said. "I'm just happy that we got our kids out. It was so hard sitting in the hospital. ... Thinking of all the people that we saw. Hoping and praying that they got out."
Rohrs said the two took their children to the show because they figured they'd sleep through it.
"We just moved here from New Mexico," he said. "We have to go out. We have to do things. You don't think you're going to get shot. You're just living your life." "

I read this last night.  I didn't get a chance to tell Rod about it til this morning.  I told him....the guy LEFT HIS BABY and ran!!  Rod laughed and said, "Well, I'm sure he's not proud, but.."  I know....bear in the woods, right??  Honestly!  The baby is 4 months old...You hug and run!  Hug and run!  How much harder would it really have been to just keep a hold of the baby??  The guy even is quoted in the article as saying, Who leaves their child there?  Well, apparently, YOU!!  The mother took BOTH the 4 year old AND the baby.  THEN.....did you see where it said she called him and he 'DROVE BACK TO THE THEATER'?  Not only did he run and leave his entire family inside, he LEFT THE PARKING LOT!!!!  Now there's a real good guy to have around in a crisis!  The article said the couple was engaged.  I wonder if they are STILL engaged?!  After that, I can't say I would be keeping him around!

Another Rod Story

Today we went to the dr. to have another sonogram.  (I'm trying to scan some of the pics from that, but I'm having problems with my scanner)  So, we do the sonogram, and the technician leaves the room to go get the doctor.  You know how when you're in the hospital, the nurses come around with that blue cart thingy that takes your blood pressure, pulse and temperature?  Well, there's one of those sitting between the chair thingy I'm in and the chair that Rod's sitting in.  When the tech left the room, I look over at Rod, and he's sitting there with his finger IN the pulse taking thingy!!  The machine is actually working cause the numbers are changing.  Then, he takes his finger out and causes the mchine's alarm to go off!!!  His eyes got huge and he's just sitting there, like, it wasn't me.  After a little while, he found a cancel button and turned it off.  Then, the technician came back and had to put some more of my info in her little machine thing, and then she left again.  Whatever she did, she made her machine beep a few times.  Rod started staring at the blue machine again.  I told him the beeping was coming from the sonogram machine that time.  His response?  "Good.  I thought I was going to have to make a run for it!"  I just looked at him and asked, "You'd just leave me here?"  He said, "I'm not proud of it.  But yes, I would!"  Then I asked him, "So, if we were in the woods and a bear attacked?"  He relplied, "It was nice knowing you."  I asked him if he would really let a bear eat his unborn baby and he said, "I'd say Shoo Bear.  And if that didn't work, then I'd say, well, I've done all I can do."

Widget's Tired

We were eating lunch today.  Widget started rubbing his eyes.  Then fell asleep sitting in his high chair.  Rod took a short video of it.

Two Of The Idiots I Live With..........

Yesterday, I had two 'interesting' conversations with two members of this family.  First, Rod comes in right after lunch, during Widget's naptime.  Which, by the way, is ALWAYS right after lunch!  The conversation went something like this:

Rod:  If an angry huband knocks on the door, I didn't do it.  Well, I didn't mean to do it.
Me:  Good Lord, Rod, What'd you do now??
Rod: Well, I was driving down our street, and I saw your van coming toward me, so I hung out the window waving and making faces at you.
Me:  But, I didn't leave.  I'm right here.
Rod:  Yeah. I know that NOW!  I couldn't see the driver because of the sun and the van had the same hubcaps.
Me:  But it's naptime, I never leave at this time of day.
Rod:  Well, I don't know when naptime is!  The lady looked at me really weird.

I can't imagine why!!!!

Then, while I was making dinner, Goofy came in to talk to me.

Goofy:  What are we doing Tuesday?
Me:  (Knowing that Goofy knows the days of the week, but also knowing that he has no clue what day today is, let alone when Tuesday will roll around.) Probably a whole lot of nothing.  Why?
Goofy: Because.  I just need to know what we're doing on Tuesday.
Me:  Probably nothing.  Is there something you need to do?  (I thought maybe one of his TV channels previewed a movie or something for Tuesday.)
Goofy:  Well, I think I need to play my XBox.  And I might need Dad to help me with it.
Me:  OK
Goofy:  When IS Tuesday??

That was the moment I gave up all hope that HE will be our gifted child!  He sounded EXACTLY like his Dad!!!  :)

Beach Day Pt. 1

Rod was supposed to do a bunch of stuff yesterday.  Dingy needed him to help her with her driving homework.  Goofy needed him to help him get past a certain level on an XBox game.  And he was supposed to take me out yard saling and/or to thrift stores to find a couple of baby items that I want.  Instead, Rod stayed in bed most of the day watching TV!  So he offered to take us to the beach today to make up for it.  It didn't solve all the other things that needed done, but we had a fun day instead.  :)

Baby butt crack.  We had to see that a LOT!!!
Widget does not like going into the water.
He hung onto his Daddy most of the time.

Rod is staring at the clouds.  Once we got down there, it really looked like it wanted to rain.

Rod still staring at the clouds.  (See a pattern emerging??)

Yep.  That's Rod staring from a different angle.
We decided to stay and play until the rain or lightning started.

I wish I knew what these faces were being made about!
 Really weird....

Yes, Rod, clouds are still up there!

 Splash picture!!!!
I think she hurt my Goofy.
Anyone want to guess what Rod's looking at now?

 Look!!!  It's a Dorkfish!!!

Beach Day pt. 2

I had to seperate our day into two posts.  The first time I tried putting all my pictures on, the website stopped loading about halfway through!  Maybe Rod's right.  Maybe I do take too many pictures.  Naahhh...Rod can't be right!!!

Check out Goofy's hair!!  We finally figured out that all of his hair was wet, EXCEPT for that top spot.  :)

 Pretty, pretty Princess sunning.

 more funny hair.
Yes.  We really made fun of his hair a lot today.
 Widget getting brave.

Big toothless smile.  He's going to look awesome when that other front one falls out.  I'm guessing by next weekend!

Widget found he liked splashing the water from the safety of his Dad's lap.

I don't know what splashed off to the side, but it made a cool wall of water!

I guess Widget had enough.  That's our bag with dry towels in it.  Headed toward the water!

There comes Rod to save the towels!!!
And about 10 minutes after we left?  Yep.  Sleep time!!!!
You can see from the window that we did get rained out.  Goofy was NOT ready for the beach day to be over.
