Playing Tourist

When we went to DC for the Purple Strides walk in June, Goofy wanted to go see the Lincoln Memorial.  Rod didn't want to go after having spent all morning up there already, so we told Goofy that one day over summer, we would go up and see all the monuments he wanted.  He also wanted to ride the bus that had the upstairs.  Today, we went to see those monuments with him AND we even paid to ride the double decker tour bus.  It was kind of fun, you could get on and off at any stop you wanted and spend any amount of time you wanted.  You just caught the next bus coming through when you were ready.

We stopped at Dick's on the way and bought a new baby carrier.  We knew the stroller would not be a good idea getting on and off the bus, plus all the steps at the monuments.  So we now own a backpack carrier.  It was worth every penny we spent on it.  Marvel loved it.  He was sooooooo good.  He didn't fuss or cry at all today and he just rode along on Rod's back.
We started at the Jefferson Memorial.

Marvel wasn't in a lot of the group shots since he was hanging out behind Rod!
And, yes, Rod was stuck there once he sat!
Goofy asked, "Was he really that tall?"
 A random helicopter flying past.

Our first ride on the bus.  The upstairs was full, so we had to sit inside.

Goofy wasn't excited about the picture taking.

I was trying to get a group shot by the engraving of the Gettysburg Address.......but this happened...

There he goes......I noticed it, Dingy didn't
 Oh wait!  There she saw.

 BIG yawn
Then the smile cause yawning is fun.  He also normally giggles after sneezing.

 Ducks in the reflecting pool

He chased a squirrel up a tree.  People stopped and watched him.

We got a 'snack'.  We still don't know why Goofy sat so far away from us.

Marvel stealing his Mommy's wallet out of her bag.

 Waiting for the next bus.

We made it up top!!!!!!!  We rode it for as long as we were allowed, too!  (even
though a couple of tree branches tried to take off my head!)

 Snipers

 Watching the city......
Then not so much.  He is OUT.

We stopped at Union Station just to see it and grab a snack.

Goofy decided to sit in the bus for the ride back to the car.  (We let him pick since it was sort of his day.)
Look!  It's one of those "you are here" pins!
 Funny looking pine cone

 Widget wanted carried, too.

We barely left the parking lot when we saw this....
Then about 10 miles more and we had THIS!!
