Little Creek
The rain finally stopped Friday before lunch. Now that water levels are back to normal, I wanted to post a few pics of what the creek should look like!
Here is from the road, looking in at it. You can barely even see water there.
And here is the school yard. No river running through it today. Oh, and the bright light coming from the sky? I'm told that is the sun! We almost forgot what that looked like. :)

Flooding Update
Just in case anyone is seeing or hearing about the flooding on the news, I thought I would give an early morning update from this house. We are all still here and fine. Our backyard looks slightly better (from the back door--I haven't ventured outside to the very back where it had been pooling last night). However, it is STILL RAINING!!! Schools were cancelled today. Late last night, they evacuated two mobile home parks-BY BOAT! This was only a couple of hours after we had gotten back home. An apartment complex was evacuated due to a threat to the retaining wall. The last report I found was at 2am and it said that part of that wall did give way. Since it's still raining, I'm not sure if that will become a bigger situation or not. By the time I went to bed last night, the news was saying that basically route 1 was shut down. (That's the road we were on with the 7-11 and Wawa.) This morning's report said that the creek or river (forget which one) crested and had put around 15 feet of water over parts of the road.
That's sort of all I know right now. I don't know if we'll go out travelling around again today or not. We were supposed to have Goofy's preschool orientation today. Don't think that will happen. At least it's a school we have been to before and I did take him to the sneak peek day so he has seen his classroom and I know the parent rules.
I'll keep everyone posted if anything else exciting happens around here. Let's see, in the last couple of weeks, we have had an earthquake, a hurricane, and now a flood. What's coming next?

We're Flooding!! :(
It has been raining since Monday afternoon. The sun came out for 5 minutes today, then left and it started storming AGAIN!!!
We might need to use Rod's boat!!!
Aparently, I need to buy everyone new rain jackets!! Yes. He IS wearing a plastic bag over his head! (He cut it open a little at least)

Sorry for the raindrops in the pictures. But, well, it was raining!!!! :) This is our nice new pool. Not exactly where I would have placed it if I had the choice.

Dippy climbed up the fence like a monkey to check on the little creek behind our house. LITTLE creek. Well.........it's not so little tonight!!
This may be part of it.....inside our yard!!
This is the front yard pool.

We drove down to the elementary school which is behind our house and on the other side of the little creek. Normally, you can't really see the creek from here when the trees are still green. You can see it tonight!

Another view of the little creek. I don't have any non flooded pictures of the creek to share so you could compare. Let's just say, I have jumped over it before in summertime! No. I didn't try to do that tonight.
This is about directly behind our house.

We went out driving for just a little bit. Roads are closing all over the place. Dingy needed candy for a class tomorrow, so we stopped at a Wawa. Part of their parking lot was closed due to flooding. When Rod came out, he said we needed to leave fast. They were getting ready to close the road in front of the store and probably the store, too. The local newspaper has a facebook account and the last thing they posted said that it would be easier to list the streets that ARE still open tonight! At this point, I'm wondering if there will be school tomorrow. One elementary school is already flooded and one high school was close to being flooded. And the rain is STILL coming!!

Just a small bit up the road from the Wawa we stopped at was this 7-11. I know the picture isn't great, but you might be able to make out the water level on the car. This 7-11 was being forced to close tonight.

This is a tad bit better of a picture. The water is up to the guy's door.

We made it back home safe and sound. Not completly dry, but dry enough. I think we'll stay inside for the rest of the night now! I'm also thinking that Goofy might NOT get to start soccer this weekend. He's supposed to have a practice on Saturday and his first game on Sunday. I can't imagine that they'll allow us onto the soccer fields, though.
Labor Day
OK. I know Labor Day came before the first day of school, so my blog is out of order. Dingy didn't want me to post pics of her 'new' hair before the first ay of school pics. I'm not sure of the reason since she never posted her own pics on Facebook. I guess I'm allowed to post these now. :)
On Labor Day, the weather wasn't too peachy. We tried finding a new park that Rod had heard about somehow. We never found it. We followed the GPS and it took us to houses! But we did see this baby deer. Her mommy was on the other side of the road. When I tried to take her picture, she ran away. (And away from her baby!)
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddd.....the pinkness!

We drove around and found another park. It had some small beaches and wasn't overcrowded. But the weather wasn't really the head to the beach weather either.

First Day of School
It's the first day of school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well. At least for the older two. Goofy starts next Monday, but we can go look at his classroom today and then he goes for an orientation on Friday.
I think Dingy's 'after the first day of school' picture will look better. We just didn't have the right light to do her hair justice. It's still pretty dark out when she gets on the bus. Plus, it's raining, so that makes it even darker!!
Dippy didn't want his picture taken. Which really isn't unusual. (That's Goofy's shirt on his foot. He threw it at Dippy and then laughed after the picture was taken and yelled, "Look what's on your foot!!")

Rod Plays in the Sand
Random Beach Pictures
These are just some random pictures from our beach trip the other day. We may or may not have some more last day of summer pics later tonight. We're going to go look at a new park, but the weather isn't great so I don't know if it will be a picture taking day or not.
We saw a jelly fish!!!! This is the first time I have EVER seen one in the 'real world'!! It was dead, and Rod took it up the beach and buried it so no one would step on it.
