My Highlight

The highlight of Rod's trip was obviously the fishing. THIS was mine! This completely and totally made my entire trip!

A Mommy sea turtle laid her eggs right by the steps to the beach at our resort. They had the area staked off to protect the eggs. (Someone from another resort had said that their eggs hatched earlier in the week. )
On Friday night, our last night there, we went to the lobby around 6:30 to go out looking for a cooler to ship home Rod's fish. The guy who gets you a taxi handed us a paper that said the eggs had hatched at 7 that morning and that the babies would be making their way out to the ocean at 7 Friday night. So we all ran through the lobby and out the back to the beach. We got there about 5 minutes before they started and we had an awesome front row view!

The babies were inside the big cooler.

One by one they laid them out on the beach.

The waves would knock them back up the beach some, too.

Some of them seemed to not being moving very much. Sometimes a wave would hit and it seemed to perk them up a little. They said that they give them 10 minutes to crawl on their own and then they help them into the water.
It was AWESOME to see. it was the one thing we saw there that I really wish the kids could have been there to see, too. I know they would have LOVED it.

Aunt una's birthday

Sorry Aunt Una! I DID remember your birthday, I just was nowhere near a computer to post anything for you. I mentioned it to Rod several times that week, because you share a birthday with Sammy Hagar and part of why we were in Cabo was to go to his birthday bash concert! So, sorry this is very late. I hope you HAD a great birthday!! WE had a good time on your birthday!! :)

More fish

Sorry these are a little out of order.

This is Rod taking the first bite of the freshest fish we have probably ever eaten! (We took a few fillets to the restaurant straight from the marina and had them cooked.)
This is fillets off the Dorado. (mahi mahi.....VERY good!)

The guy cutting the fish at the first table.....Yeah, that's our lunch he's cutting off!

This is the 'cutting station'. the pointy sword thingy hanging out of the chain fence beside the door is off Rod's marlin. He asked for it to be delivered with the fish, but it wasn't.

The dorados that they caught.

The fish!!

We made it back from our trip. I don't think I am ever going to get caught up on everything, though! We've been back for more than a day and I have only made it to the computer for about 20 minutes so far! That was long enough for me to find my new dog, but that's a story for later. :) There are so many posts and pictures I need to do, but I have to start with Rod's. We told his Dad we'd have the pictures up by Sunday night and now it's Monday afternoon and he hasn't seen the highlight of Rod's trip.

So here's Rod's highlight of his year. He got to go fishing in Cabo, and he caught a little fish. They caught three Dorados (known to me as Mahi Mahi...YUM) And then this little thing. It weighed 170 pounds and was 109 inches long. Now Rod can tell you this without having to ask anyone it's size. However, next time you talk to him, ask him how much his kids weighed when they were born!

This is how they get it from the boat to the weigh station. They lassoed it and drug it up the ramp.

Still going up.

Almost up.
And here it is hanging for pictures. (isn't it cute that Rod and Danny wore matching T-shirts?)

Keep watching the blog. The highlight of my trip is still to come along with many other litle stories and pictures!

Happy Half Birthday!!!

Happy Half birthday Dingy!! OK. It was yesterday. But we didn't get to eat her half cake until late so this post didn't make it up til this morning. (Thankfully Giant actually sells half cakes because I didn't have time to make her one.)

Sonic!!!

I told Dippy and Dingy that if they helped me clean the house over the weekend, I would take them to Sonic. So I got a clean house AND dinner at Sonic!

We ate our dinner outside at their picnic tables and then got our ice cream in the van. Dingy had wanted to eat in the van and I told her we'd just make a mess. And she proved me right!!

Can you see the chip out of her sundae cup? And yes, ice cream and hot fudge flowed out of it!!

Ocean City

MelanieWelanie from Fodder for Conversation and I went to Ocean City this past weekend. It was Sunfest!! And it was AWESOME!! Very very crowded though. And I think we discovered the world's smallest parking lot! I was driving the big van, too, so the two didn't go together very well. We parked the van Friday night and walked everywhere we needed to go! Even a mile over the bridge for big seafood dinner at Hooper's Crab House! We played Guitar Hero, too. (duh) And guess what?? I WON!!!!! OK. It was one song, but I WON!!! Most of the songs we play, I play on medium and she plays on hard. So when I win those, it doesn't really count cause her song is harder. BUT--we played a song, and we were BOTH on medium and I KICKED HER BUTT!!!! You'll probably want to check her blog later as I am guessing she is going to post a different version of this story!

Anyway, while we were out walking around one night, we saw this sign. I know it is a little fuzzy, but check out the store hours.

They open at 6:17 am. Really? Who came up with THAT???

Show and Tell

Goofy had the Show and Tell bag in his bucket when he came home on Monday. He was sooooo excited. He put his Show and Tell item (a ball of course!) into the bag Monday night and left it at the ready til today!

He even practiced what he wanted to say. "I throw it. I roll it."

More Bike Pics

For Sunday's ride, I had Dippy and Nik with me. It's very different riding with two boys over the ride I had Saturday with the other lady. On Saturday, we kept a nice steady pace and just rode along. Sunday, we stopped to look at EVERYTHING!!

We stopped to look at the family of turtles.
We stopped for the dying mouse.

Nik's peg fell off, so we stopped to put that back on.

They wanted to walk down to the water. That's the trail Nik found for me to go down. I had told him that the next trail he saw, to go ahead and stop and we'd go down for a minute or two. THIS is what he found for me.
Playing on the rocks.

Exploring the old lock.

They found a toad. He does a good job of blending in, but you can find him.
Another stop to explore the water.

Boy Scout Campout Weekend

This weekend both Rod and I went with Dippy to his monthly campout. This month they had decided to go biking on the C&O Canal. It is VERY nice there. The trail is mostly flat, too which makes it nice for the untrained rider.

This is Dippy stealing his Dad's cushy seat cover.
